The next generation | Nuance PowerMic 4
Based on the strong success of their PowerMic range, Nuance have recently been working on an all-new model, the Nuance PowerMic 4. This new addition to the PowerMic family is now available and brings some exciting new features with it.
What's the difference between the PowerMic 3 and 4?
Several new features and design reworks have been incorporated in the PowerMic 4, with perhaps one of the most notable being the material used for the surfaces of the device, which are manufactured to have anti-microbial properties. This helps eliminate bacteria left on the device after each use so that it is clean for the use of the next person. With a large percentage of medical professionals using this range of microphones due to their excellent transcription accuracy when used with Dragon Medical One, the addition of an anti-microbial surface can add peace of mind when working in busy areas such as hospitals and GP practices.
Ergonomics
Furthermore, the new PowerMic 4 has slimmer buttons for a faster and less clunky workflow. It is now much easier to move your thumb/fingers around the device, especially for people with smaller hands. In addition to this, the device has had a slight remodel, making the overall feel in the hand much easier to hold.
Mounting and Storage
A rear facing magnetic mount is another superb new feature for easy storage of the device on metallic surfaces. This allows for safe, convenient storage of the device when not in use, especially in busy environments such as offices or hospitals so that it doesn't get knocked around and damaged.
Audio
An improved studio quality, unidirectional microphone is also amongst the new features which helps to further reduce background noise and interference with each dictation by utilising a high pass filter to remove/dull extreme high and low frequencies, so dictations are even more accurate. Paired with this, a higher quality speaker phone has been installed for crystalline audio quality playback.
Track Pad
Perfect for those with larger hands, the built-in pointing device is now 30% larger, allowing for easier manoeuvrability of the mouse when using the device.
Function Buttons
For those with a lot of buttons to press in one go, the PowerMic 4 adds two additional programmable buttons which can be used to press any button on your keyboard all from the press of the button on the device, furthermore, it also allows the user to bind keyboard shortcuts to these buttons which can help to copy and paste text amongst many other shortcuts all from their microphone.
