What is PSTI Compliance?

Any consumer connectable product, AKA 'smart' devices, sold in the UK must meet the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure programme (PSTI). But what exactly does that mean?

The PSTI Act (2022) came into effect in April 2024, and part of it legally requires any manufacturer building smart devices to ensure that they meet the regulations if it's to be sold in the UK. The purpose of these regulations are to reduce the risk of the devices being subject to Cyber attacks, particularly by foreign agents. The Act was introduced due to the increased number of smart devices being used (on average 9 devices per household), many without basic security measures like anti-virus software, secure & unique passwords, etc.

While many manufacturers, importers and distributors already meet other regulations, even combined these laws didn't specify minimum security requirements against large-scale cyber threats like Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. These attacks can essentially commandeer the collective computing power of hacked devices to launch widespread disruption on organisations like local government, the NHS and media.

As a proud Hytera Partner, the following products sold by Speak-IT Solutions are PSTI Compliant:

Body cameras

PoC Devices
